Q&A with Scott Harwood

Role
Please describe your role.
I am one of the RSMs at Waterline. My role is to help develop our trade & electrical retail business, with a particular focus on our range of Essentials / Lifestyle products.
How long have you been part of the Waterline team?
I joined Waterline in October 2024, prior to that I have dealt with Waterline as a supplier for over 20 years.
Share a memorable moment from your career that has shaped who you are today?
My first job as a sales rep was selling gas fires for a manufacturer in Burnley. The interview with my then boss included us going out for a few frames of snooker. I didn’t know at the time but what was important to him was how I interacted socially which is something you can`t get from a CV. Despite beating him I still got the job.
Interests
What's your favourite hobby or pastime outside of work?
I am into my racket sports and enjoy tennis and badminton.
What's one thing on your bucket list you hope to achieve this year?
A far Eastern holiday has been something my wife and I have had on our to do list for a while and in February we are off to Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
One of my most memorable places I have visited is the Isle Of Sky and would happily go back, the landscape and views are breath taking. The distilleries are pretty good also.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would have to be Veal Milanese but not without a bottle of Barolo.
Impressions
Share a fun fact about yourself that most people don't know.
I have recently taken up Crown Green bowling, that’s less of a fun fact but more of an admission of getting old.
What's the last book you read or movie you watched that left a lasting impression on you?
The last book I read was Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, fascinating read about the Nike brand.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
I find ancient Egypt fascinating so a sit down with King Tut to answer all those questions.
What's your favourite quote or mantra that inspires you?
I personally hate all these paste and copy `life quotes` you see on social media. If I did have one it would simply be live for today, don`t worry about the things you can`t control and get on with it.
